Increase Your Speed

Economy Playing: Simply put, you will produce more notes with less movement, saving time while increasing speed. The goal is to minimize movement in your picking hand as well as your fret hand.

Sweep Picking is a skill used by guitarists in which a ’sweeping’ motion of the pick is used instead of a plucking fashion; in order to produce a specific series of notes which are fast and fluid in sound. Both hands essentially perform in unison to achieve the desired effect. Foremost Sweep pickers include: John Petrucci, Michael Angelo Batio, Steve Vai, Yngwie Malmsteen, Alexi Laiho.

Alternate Picking is a guitar technique that makes use of alternating downward and upward picking strokes in an uninterrupted phrase. If this technique is performed on a single note at a high speed, then it may also be referred to as tremolo picking.

Economy Fingering: The art of foreseeing future notes and movements, by manipulating you fingering with respect to chord usage and singular & double string play. An Example: getting from one note to the next quicker, by using the appropriate fingering. Or getting from one chord to the next quicker.
